KOM International Announces Alan Taliaferro as New Company President
MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada, January 14, 2004 - KOM International Inc., a global leader in supply chain consulting, announced today the appointment of Mr. Alan Taliaferro as the new company President and Chief Executive Officer. Following the lead of retiring president, Jim MacRae, Mr. Taliaferro will be responsible for the firm's Global Operations.
Stationed at global headquarters in Montreal Alan Taliaferro will oversee corporate operations in the firm's various offices including Montreal, Mexico City, Caracas, Bogotá, and Sao Paulo. As President and CEO Mr. Taliaferro will lead corporate initiatives such as new markets, strategic alliances, and the presentation of new product offerings to better serve the firm's distinguished customer base.
Mr. Taliaferro has over 17 years of experience with KOM and speaks English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. In addition to projects in North America and Europe, his experience includes projects in Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil.
Mr. Taliaferro initiated operations in Latin America in 1995 and later went on to found the Caracas office in 1998. After the Caracas office grew from four people at startup to 18 people in 2001, Mr. Taliaferro relocated to found the new Mexico City office which has now grown to 14 people. He was also responsible for the merger in Brazil, which increased the company's size.
Mr. Taliaferro is a regular speaker at industry conferences and seminars in Latin America such as IAC, EAN, ANTAD, and ANSA, as well as being recognized as “Dr. Logistics” in the periodical Art of Logistics. He has presided as a judge for the Colombian Prize for Logistics Excellence. Mr. Taliaferro is an MBA graduate of McGill University and has a B.Sc. Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.
