KOM International FAQ's for Client FTP
Q:What is the Client FTP?
A: The Client FTP consists of a series of secured on-line project folders. Only the team members involved with a specific project (KOM and Client) have access to these folders. With a specific user name and password, team members can view the contents of the folder, upload new files, and download files to their hard drives.
Q: Why use the Client FTP when I can just e-mail my data?
A: The Client FTP offers a number of advantages over e-mail. Most e-mail servers have restrictions on the size of the files you can attach-usually between 5 and 15 mb. The Client FTP site will allow you to upload up to 100mb.
Newer programs such as Office XP, Outlook XP, no longer accept attachments that could possibly contain viruses such as Office documents, databases or spreadsheets.
The Client FTP site is also much more secure than traditional e-mail. When you log-on to KOM International's server, you establish a direct connection. By contrast, when you send an attachment through e-mail, there are countless opportunities for your mail to be intercepted before it arrives at its final destination.
Q: What kind of files can I transmit?
A: Currently you can post files up to 100mb on the Client FTP. The types of files you can upload is restricted to 4 file types:
Q: Can files be overwritten and for how long does data stay in the folder?
A: Files that have already been posted can not be overwritten. If you are posting or replacing an existing file, you must use a different file name. The FTP folders are active for 30 days. After that period of time has elapsed, The KOM International manager in charge of the project using this service will receive a warning that the 30 period is over. If no action is taken to renew the account, the contents of the folder are destroyed, and the space can then be allocated to a new project.
